At Plan for Humanity Development Initiative we believe that women, children and the youth are a vital part of the community. However, due to cultural and societal norms, marginalisation based on gender, income disparities and poor formal education reach amongst the population in Wakiso, this group has largely been forgotten.
While government has put in place some measures to improve this condition, several factors hamper it's success, such as (but not limited to) inadequate funding, conflicting priority areas and corruption, these efforts have largely been ineffective.
We at PHDI feel very strongly about the need to incorporate women in rural under privileged communities onto the development agenda in a more sustainable way. PHDI has a number of initiatives that engage women in productive ventures which help develop the communities they come from in Wakiso. We follow an integrated approach and select areas that yield the greatest outcome for the women.
Working with communities in Wakiso, we provide youth friendly health care and encourage youth to engage in income generating activities in vocational skills that can help further their educational goals and personal development objectives.
PHDI also working to ensure that every child in Wakiso of school going age is able to attend school regularly and has adequate learning and scholastic materials to make school fun, productive and educational.
The work is great, the vision inspiring and we are very passionate about what we do. Everyday is a new adventure to reach new families and share the experience of the ones we are already working with.
PHDI touches lives, changes livelihoods and impacts the community positively!
